As a freelance author, I wrote on editorial assignment for ten-plus years for local newspapers, as well as for the regional, award-winning Charlottesville Family Magazine. I really enjoyed sharing the stories of all kinds of local folks--from a dad who is a fetal surgeon to a mom who is a detective, to families who ride bikes together, play lacrosse, join swim teams, and many more activities in between. Additionally, I wrote numerous articles about the kidlit indistry, interviewing editors, agents, art directors, authors, and illustrators, and sharing their advice with those learning the craft.
