As a freelance author, I wrote on editorial assignment for ten-plus years for local newspapers, as well as for the regional, award-winning Charlottesville Family Magazine, a print publication at the time. I really enjoyed sharing the stories of all kinds of local folks--from a dad who is a fetal surgeon to a mom who is a detective, to families who ride bikes together, play lacrosse, compete on swim teams, and many more activities in between. I've also published numerous articles regarding the kidlit indistry in newsletter, ezines, and on industry blogs (including my own).
