Over the years, I have contributed numerous articles about the craft of writing to several children writers' magazines and newsletters. In doing so, I've enjoyed interviewing a plethora of kidlit pros--from authors and illustrators to editors, art directors and literary agents. As a freelance author, I've written human-interest articles for nearly twenty years. I've enjoyed sharing the stories of fetal surgeons, survivors of breast cancer, archaeologists, volleyball coaches, mothers of triplets, detectives who are moms, and many others from my community. Most recently, I've had nonfiction pieces and a poems appear in the children's magazine Cricket, Spider, and Ladybug, and have sold an creative nonfiction story about James Madison's Montpelier to Highlights for Children, though when it will publish remains to be seen--15 years later!
